The Activist — Having traveled extensively around the United States to educate homeowners about alternatives to the lawn chemicals that had made him critically ill, author Paul Tukey dropped everything and headed for Canada in 2008 when he heard about his kindred spirit: Dr. June Irwin of Hudson, Quebec. With snippets from his appearances across the U.S. serving as narration for this film, Tukey puts his skills as orator and journalist in full view in A Chemical Reaction. It’s his passion for the truth — and a compelling personal fear that his own son may have been impacted by pesticides — that has led Tukey to 41 states and two provinces in Canada. “I never set out to be an activist,” he said. “But when I got sick and I knew that others were being made ill, too, I figured someone needed to speak out.”
